Spring Retreat

"Operation Camp Christian"
Spring Retreat is a time for men of all ages and backgrounds to come together in fellowship to worship God and do Gods work.
After a long winter there's a lot of spring cleaning to be done to get Camp Christian back in tip-top shape and we Men make it part of our Ministry and Mission to help ready the camp for the summer season so that Camp is ready and waiting for all the campers and conferees to come. From mowing to painting and from weed-whacking to sweeping, no matter your age or ability there’s something you can do! Nobody is too young or too old to lend a hand.
It's not all work though, there's plenty of time to relax and have fun with and get to know other men from throughout the region. And on Friday night we will have a special musical performance by the group "His Embrace" from Gender Road Christian Church. We'll be taking up a special music offering to support their trip to camp.
The Ohio Disciple Men ("ODM") is a group of men from the 193 various churches in Ohio. Ohio is our Region, in addition to being our state. ODM is part of the Christian Church in Ohio and is run by a Men's Commission. The ODM President is a member of the Regional Board of the Christian Church in Ohio.
At the NATIONAL LEVEL, The General Conference of Disciple Men ("GCDM") is a group composed of an Executive Board and the Presidents of every region. This GCDM sets the agenda for national events, including Sessions 2004 and the Flap Jack Project to support kids. The GC/DM reports to the National Offices of the denomination.
At the REGIONAL LEVEL (our Region being all the churches in Ohio), men gather at Camp Christian twice a year for week-end retreats. This Regional Group is called the Ohio Disciple Men (or ODM). ODM supports/liaisons with the District Groups and the GC/DM Group.
At the DISTRICT LEVEL (generally two or more counties banded together), groups of church men join together and celebrate with Sunday Retreats featuring guest speakers and/or work projects.
At the LOCAL CHURCH LEVEL, individual churches have Men Fellowship groups, that have fellowship activities, prayer, bible study, and/or work projects.
The bottom line. ODM all starts with YOU and ME serving in God's world. |
